Dus Mahavidya and Nine Planets in Astrology

Nine planets in astrology are associated with dus mahavidya. The name, “Mahavidya” comes from the Sanskrit roots of Maha, which means great and Vidya means Wisdom, Knowledge, Manifestation, or Revelation. The Dus Mahavidyas or the Ten Goddesses are actually ten aspects of the Devi or the
Divine Mother in Hinduism. They are Kali, Tara, Shodashi, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi, and Kamala.

Worshipping Goddess Matangi is beneficial to strengthen weak sun, afflicted sun or sun-Rahu, sun- ketu, sun-saturn combination in the birth chart.
For mental peace, happiness, concentration, sound sleep and to improve weak moon (moon conjunct with or aspected by malefic like sun, mars, saturn, rahu,  ketu) one should worship Goddess Bhuvaneshwari.

Planets and places

Sun and Moon are taken as planets and not as a star or satellite respectively. Rahu and Ketu are shadow planets. চন্দ্রমা

“আয় আয় চাঁদমামা টিপ দিয়ে যা,
চাঁদের কপালে চাঁদ টিপ দিয়ে যা। ”

ছোটবেলায় মায়ের কোলে বসে আকাশের দিকে তাকিয়ে চাঁদ দেখতে দেখতে শোনা এই ছড়ার সাথে আমরা সবাই পরিচিত। সুদর্শন চাঁদকে ভাই ভেবে মা যেমন গর্বিত হন; সুন্দর, স্নিগ্ধ চাঁদমামার নিকট থেকে আদরের টিপ পেয়ে ক্রোড়ের শিশু সন্তানটিও আনন্দিত হয়। যুগ যুগ ধরে চাঁদ তার সৌন্দর্য্যে, রহস্যে সবাইকে আকর্ষিত করেছে, প্রভাবিত করেছে। তাই কবির কল্পনায়, গানে, কবিতায় বারংবার চাঁদ স্থান পেয়েছে। চাঁদ জলতত্বের একটি গ্রহ। মানব শরীরের সত্তর শতাংশ জল। তাই মানুষের চাঁদের দ্বারা প্রভাবিত হওয়া খুবই স্বাভাবিক। শুধু মানুষ নয়, উদ্ভিদ জগৎ চাঁদের দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত এবং বিজ্ঞানে তাহা প্রমাণিত। সমুদ্রের জলে জোয়ার – ভাঁটা চাঁদের মাধ্যাকর্ষণ শক্তির ফলেই হয়। চন্দ্র, পৃথিবীর সর্বাপেক্ষা নিকটে এবং পৃথিবীর তিন চতুর্থাংশ জল হওয়ায়, পৃথিবীর উপর চন্দ্রের প্রভাব সবচেয়ে বেশী।পূর্ণিমায় এবং চন্দ্র গ্রহণে চন্দ্রের আকর্ষণ খুব বেশী হয়। মানুষের মন ও দেহের উপর এর প্রভাব লক্ষ্যণীয়। চন্দ্রকে নিয়ে আলোচনা অন্তহীন। কিন্তু এই লেখাটা পৌরাণিক কাহিনী ও জ্যোতিষ শাস্ত্রে চন্দ্রের ভূমিকা, তাৎপর্য্য ও বিশেষতার গণ্ডিতেই সীমিত থাকছে।

চন্দ্রদেব

দধিশঙ্খতুষারাভং ক্ষীরোদার্ণবসম্ভবম্ ।
নংমামি শশিনং ভক্ত্যা শম্ভোর্মুকুটভূষণম্ ।।

বিষ্ণু পুরাণ মতে চন্দ্রদেবের আবির্ভাব হয়েছিল সমুদ্র মন্থনের সময় ক্ষীরসাগর থেকে। চন্দ্রের জ্যোতিতে তথায় সমাগত দেবতা ও অসুরদের চোখ ধাঁধিয়ে যাওয়ায় মহাদেব তাঁকে স্থান দেন নিজের জটায় (মহাদেবের এক নাম চন্দ্রশেখর)। পুরাণে বর্ণিত চন্দ্রের স্বরূপ অনুযায়ী তিনি তুষারশুভ্র, সুন্দর, সুপুরুষ। তাঁর হাতে পদ্ম, অস্ত্র ও অমৃত পাত্র। হরিণে টানা রথে চড়ে তিনি রাতের আকাশে বিচরণ করেন। রাতের রাজা চন্দ্র রজনীপতি, নিশাকর, ইন্দু, সোম, অত্রিসুত, শচীন, তারাধিপ ইত্যাদি নামেও খ্যাত। বৃহদারণ্যক উপনিষদ মতে চন্দ্র ঋষি অত্রি ও অনুসূয়ার পুত্র। চন্দ্রের বিবাহ হয়েছিল দক্ষ প্রজাপতির সাতাশ জন কন্যার সহিত। দক্ষের নিকট চন্দ্রের প্রতিজ্ঞা ছিল যে তিনি তাঁর সকল পত্নীর সহিত সমান ব্যবহার করিবেন কিন্তু পত্নী রোহিণী চন্দ্রের সর্বাপেক্ষা প্রিয় ছিলেন এবং রোহিণীর সহিত তিনি অধিক সময় অতিবাহিত করিতেন। ক্রোধিত দক্ষ চন্দ্রকে অভিশাপ দেন যে তিনি তাঁর জ্যোতি হারিয়ে ফেলবেন। দক্ষের অভিশাপে চন্দ্র ক্ষীণ হতে লাগলেন তার আভা ম্লান হতে লাগল। এই সঙ্কট থেকে উদ্ধারের জন্য চন্দ্রদেব ব্রহ্মার শরণাপন্ন হন। ব্রহ্মার নির্দেশে চন্দ্র প্রভাসক্ষেত্রে মৃত্যুঞ্জয় শিবের কঠিন তপস্যা করেন। তার তপস্যায় তুষ্ট হয়ে মহাদেব তাঁকে আশীর্বাদ করেন এবং বলেন যে তিনি কৃষ্ণপক্ষে ধীরে ধীরে দুর্বল হবেন, শুক্লপক্ষে পুনরায় উজ্জ্বল হবেন এবং পূর্ণিমায় পূর্ণ বিকশিত হবেন। সোম অথবা চন্দ্রের নাথ তাই শিবের আরেক নাম সোমনাথ।

জ্যোতিষ শাস্ত্রে সূর্য্যকে রাজা এবং পিতা বলা হয়েছে তেমনি চন্দ্র রানী এবং মাতা। রাশি চক্রের চতুর্থ রাশি, কর্কট রাশির অধিপতি গ্রহ চন্দ্র। চন্দ্র বৃষভ রাশিতে উচ্চ এবং বৃশ্চিক রাশিতে নীচস্থ হন। চন্দ্র স্ত্রী গ্রহ, চতুর্বর্ণের মধ্যে চন্দ্র বশ্য বর্ণ। ধাতুর মধ্যে চন্দ্র রূপা এবং রং এর মধ্যে সাদা রং কে নির্দেশ করেন । চন্দ্র মন, মাতা এবং সুখের কারক গ্রহ। মন যেমন চঞ্চল ও গতিশীল, চন্দ্রও তেমনি। 30°একটি রাশিকে চন্দ্র সওয়া দুই দিনে অতিক্রম করেন। চন্দ্র সপ্তবিংশতি নক্ষত্রের স্বামী। একটি নক্ষত্রে চন্দ্র এক দিনের জন্য অবস্থান করেন। রোহিণী, হস্তা ও শ্রবণা নক্ষত্রের অধিপতি গ্রহ চন্দ্র। তরল বা জলীয় দ্রব্য, যেমন দুধ, জল ইত্যাদি চন্দ্র গ্রহের অধীন।  শরীরে জলতত্বের ভারসাম্যকে রক্ষা করেন চন্দ্র। নারী জাতির মাসিক চক্রটি চন্দ্রের দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত। বারের মধ্যে সোমবার এবং দিকের মধ্যে উত্তর – পশ্চিম দিক চন্দ্রের। শুক্লপক্ষের চন্দ্রকে শুভ এবং কৃষ্ণপক্ষের চন্দ্রকে অশুভ মনে করা হয়। জন্ম পত্রিকায় চন্দ্রের শুভ বা অশুভ অবস্থানের উপর অনেকাংশে নির্ভর করে একজন জাতকের জীবনের উন্নতি, সুখ, সমৃদ্ধি ও মানসিক শান্তি। জন্মনক্ষত্র, (জন্মকালীন চন্দ্র যে নক্ষত্রে অবস্থান করেন) একটি জন্ম পত্রিকার বিশেষ তাৎপর্য্য পূর্ণ নক্ষত্র। সর্বাপেক্ষা গতিশীল চন্দ্র মানব মনকে সর্বাধিক প্রভাবিত করে। প্রত্যেক দিন চন্দ্রের নক্ষত্র পরিবর্তনে, চন্দ্র কলার হ্রাস – বৃদ্ধিতে আমাদের মানসিক স্থিতির পরিবর্তন হয়। সুতরাং নবগ্রহের মধ্যে চন্দ্র যে অতি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ গ্রহ সে বিষয়ে নিঃসন্দেহ।

Moola Nakshatra

Moola Nakshatra is the nineteenth of the twenty-seven nakshatra of Vedic astrology. It is a Tikshna (sharp or dreadful) and Daruna (hard) nakshatra. Moola nakshatra falls between 0 to 13 degrees 20 minutes of Sagittarius. The meaning of Moola is the foundation, root, core, origin, or innermost part of something. Moola is the centre of the Milky-way galaxy. It is the galactic centre. Moola is the foundation star. Muladhara chakra or root chakra is associated with Moola. The shakti associated with this nakshatra is Barhana Shakti (the power to ruin, destroy, and break things apart).

Lord, Deity and Symbols of Moola nakshatra 

The planetary lord of this nakshatra is Ketu, the south lunar node. This nakshatra is also influenced by the planet Jupiter as it is placed in the sign of Sagittarius. The deity of this nakshatra is Niritti (Goddess of destruction, calamity, corruption, and death, the abode or a place of dissolution or decay ) and Goddess Kali. The Symbols associated with this nakshatra are a bunch of reticulated roots tied together, a lion’s tail, and an elephant goad. A tied bunch of reticulated roots symbolizes the connection with ancestors, the linkage with lineage, and a talent carrying from the past life. Elephant goad, a tool employed by mahout in the handling and training of elephants, symbolizes the pain and sufferings in the life of Moola native.
